Atlas Voices presents an evening of music for the whole family. The first half comprises Giancarlo Menotti’s one act children’s opera, ‘Amahl and the Night Visitors’, presented with orchestra, lights, costumes, and fully staged. It tells the story of Amahl, a poor young disabled boy prone to telling tall tales, and his mother, who meet the three kings on their way to Bethlehem on the eve of the first Christmas. The performance features local soprano Amanda Atlas and Atlas Voices Ensemble members. This will be followed by a selection of inspiring holiday music including the New Zealand premiere of Z Randall Stroope’s majestic three movement ‘Hodie’. Join us for this performance and welcome in the holiday season.
