Momentum: The Past, Present, and Future of Atlas Voices

27th May 2018, Knox Church

This concert retraced our journey from our beginnings in 2013 (as Pro Arte Chorale), to our inception as the Atlas Voice Ensemble, and demonstrating how we are gathering momentum towards achieving our future ambitions.  Featuring works by Lauridsen, Childs, Stroope, Ritchie, Gjeilo, Mozart, as well as favourites from our sold out Broadway concert, an encore performance of the emotionally wrenching When David Heard by Eric Whitacre and exciting new modern choral works.

Encore: Requiem for the Living

18th February 2018, Transitional Cathedral

A very special concert to commemorate the anniversary of the Christchurch earthquakes and the continued resilience of our marvellous city.

Dan Forrest’s powerful modern work, Requiem for the Living has been described as ‘a work of soaring melody and luminous harmony . . . which emphasizes consolation for the living.’

This was a final encore performance of the piece following our premiere at the Christchurch Arts Festival in 2017, receiving standing ovations at both performances.  Joining us again were noted local soprano Amanda Atlas and students from the Burnside high school choirs along with a professional orchestra.
